About Alpacas

Alpacas, not to be confused with Llamas, are pack animals with very desirable fiber. Unlike llamas, alpacas are smaller and more pleasant to look at. Their hair can be spun into yarn and used to make scarves, sweaters, gloves, and more! The fiber is lighter and warmer than wool, hypoallergenic, and very versatile.

Alpacas come in two varieties. There are Huacaya alpacas, which are fuzzy, and Suri alpacas, which reside on our ranch. Suri alpacas have hair that hangs like dreadlocks, but is more desirable for spinning and making garments.
